Odds and EndsPosted by Ted on May 7th, 2006
Our kitchen floor arrived on Saturday morning, but we aren’t going to get to laying it down in the very near future unfortunately. We spent Saturday looking for at fabric and hardware for curtains for the living and bathrooms and went to home-depot to get some needed supplied for the kitchen floor (more on that later - I promise). In the afternoon I cleaned up some of the various bits of cabling and electrical hangings in the basement that had been left over from work done earlier in the week. Today was spent prepping the kitchen walls for plastering, priming and painting. They’re in pretty rough shape (especially with all the holes I’ve been chopping everywhere. In addition to patching those, I also scraped of some very ancient tile-adhesive that had been hiding under crappy wallpaper. I’ll put together a full post on what I did today when I have a little more time. Someone told me just the other day that we have plenty of pictures of the inside of our house posted, but they wanted to see what the outside looked like. So without further ado: This was taken in an evening, so the sunlight is coming from behind. The front of the house faces north-eastish, so we get good light in the morning coming into the bedroom. We’re thinking about taking down the short fence on the right side of the patio to help open the space up a bit, but I’m not sure about that yet.
As for the continuing misadventures of Gobo Dog - we’ve had recommended to us by several people the use of citronella collars to try and prevent his barking at passersby. It may be something that we’ll look into. For now, until we can get curtains up in the living room, we’re going to keep him in the spare room when we’re not around. We’ve read several other possible methods of treatment as well. So that’s all for now. On my list of things to do for the site is a great big “before and after” post for the bathroom - its transformation is pretty remarkable - and a post detailing the attack on the kitchen walls. But for now… I’m kinda sleepy. -Ted. One Response to “Odds and Ends”Leave a Comment |

Yes, delayed as I am, it is Lily of the Valley and if you leave it (not pull some every season, even throughout the season) it will take over the entire yard. It’s really nice, and when in bloom in the early season, the little white bell shaped flowers are beautiful. you just need to work at keeping it under control. It does best in some shade, hence if you’re facing NE it will do well as it doesn’t get the hot hot afternoon sun.
